TreeHouse Recognizes Our Volunteers
TreeHouse is grateful for the over 600 people a year who volunteer their time and share their talents with us. We believe recognition is inspiration, so feel free to get inspired by these TreeHouse volunteers and their stories!
Newong's Story
Newong Lee has been a valuable member to the TreeHouse team in Edina. Giving his time as an Administrative Assistant Intern, Newong works hard at whatever task crosses his desk. Newong has been at TreeHouse for nearly four months.
He started at TreeHouse to complete his internship requirement for the Business Management program at Brown College. After his graduation Newong chose to stay on at TreeHouse and continue to serve as an Administrative Assistant Volunteer. When asked why he likes his position at TreeHouse Newong answered, “Everyone here is so nice! They are all bubbly.”
At TreeHouse we are as equally as happy to have Newong as he is to be here. Newong has been a great addition to our team and will surely contribute to any organization that hires him.
Charlene's Story
Charlene Peterson has been committed to the Minnetonka youth for 4 years. Despite working full-time Charlene is dedicated to leading Support Groups on Tuesday nights. Charlene has gone above and beyond the expectations put on her as a Tuesday night Support Group Volunteer. Outside of Support group Charlene mentors some of the teens as well as attends retreats when extra help is needed.
Charlene has been a shining light at the Minnetonka TreeHouse. One of the many ways she's been doing this is by meeting with a student who hasn't come to TreeHouse for over two years. She's had to move past racism within the family, who have been apprehensive about their daughter being mentored by a different race. But after showing so much love to their child, the family warmed up to Charlene, and has been mentoring her ever since. Charlene has gone above and beyond the expectations and truly revealed her heart for hurting teens, whether or not they're coming to TreeHouse. She's been a faithful volunteer for many years and has been a shining example to every teen.
Charlene serves as a consistent, caring, and loving adult figure to many youth who would otherwise be void of this stability in their lives. It is evident that Charlene respects TreeHouse and the youth she serves and look-up to her.
More than 5616 volunteer hours took place last year at TreeHouse.
The estimated value of this volunteer time adds up to nearly $115,000 dollars.*
Thank you to all our amazing volunteers!
